About the film:
Yuma is mad. Mad at her life in the slums of Managua, mad at her boyfriend and the other junkie boys who waste their lives with petty crime, mad at her mother and her new creep of a husband. Yuma wants to become a boxer. She vents all her aggressions and energy at the gym and in the ring and dreams of a future other than that which seems predestined for her. And one day the turning point arrives. By accident she meets journalist student Ernesto and is offered her first real fight. But with success comes jealousy and conflicts. Florence Jaugey debuts with a slice-of-life story from a rarely seen Nicaragua. La Yuma is the first Nicaraguan feature film produced in 20 years and Alma Blanco is dynamite as La Yuma.
